How to Get Newborn baby Passport in Saudi Arabia

Wondering how to get passport for your Newborn baby in Saudi Arabia? Follow this step by step guide where we discuss all the steps required to complete obtaining Passport for your baby.

Apply for Newborn Baby Passport in Saudi Arabia

Once you have successfully obtained the birth certificate for your newborn baby, it is now time to apply for a Passport. Every Child born in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Indian parent(s) is required to be registered with the Embassy of India, Riyadh or Consulate General of India, Jeddah within one year of the birth. And failing to do so may draw unnecessary penalties or unprecedented additional documentations.

Info: It is not possible to include the child’s name in the passport of mother/father.

Documents Required

  1. Birth Certificate Attested with MOFA and Translated to English

  2. Signed Indian Citizenship Registration form

  3. Passport of Both the Parents

  4. Copy of Marriage Certificate of the Parents, Translated into Arabic

  5. Passport Size Photo of the Baby

  6. Photocopy of Iqamah of both the parents

  7. Copy of Page showing Iqamah Expiry Date

  8. Saudi Visa Copy along with the Visa Expiry date from Absher (In Case if either of the parents is on visit visa)

Step 1: Application for Indian Citizenship Online

1. Visit Indian citizenship online Website

The first step in Applying for Indian passport your newborn baby is to Apply for an Indian Citizenship Online. Visit the Website https://indiancitizenshiponline.nic.in/

2. Click on Apply Online

3. Complete the form

Note down your temporary Application ID and Start filling the form

  • Full Name of Child: This should include First Name, Last Name and Surname. If the child doesn’t have a last name, then enter First Name & Surname.

  • Present Address: Enter your Resident Address in India. This should exactly Match with the address that is present in the passport of the Parent.

  • Identity of Mark: Enter if there are any visible marks like “Mole on right cheek”. You can also enter “Not Applicable” if there is none.

  • Complete all other details exactly as per passport.

4. Verify, Submit and Print

Once you have successfully Submitted the form, You will be asked to attach the following documents:

1- Birth Certificate of Child, Both Arabic and English
2- Passport of Both the Parents
3- Marriage Certificate, Translated into Arabic

Important Note: After Printing, Both the parents need to sign the printed form

Pro Tip: Scan and Store a PDF of each of these documents so it is easier to upload

5. Visit to Passport Application Center for Documents Attestation

This is one of the most difficult part of the entire application process. Check your nearest Passport and Visa Application Centers using the following link https://www.eoiriyadh.gov.in/

Once you have identified, Visit the center in the early mornings along with all the required documents. Usually the center opens at 8:30AM (No, there is no online appointment system yet)

Important: The Centers are open for Documents Attestation only on Friday’s and Saturday’s

Take the token and wait for your turn. The Consular will verify and attest your documents.

This completes the Section 1

Step 2: Application for Passport Online

1. Visit Passport Portal5 Website

Visit portal5. Click on ‘Register Now’ under the ‘New User’ tab. Enter the login ID & password. Enter the captcha code and click on ‘Register’

2. Complete Registration Form

Select your nearest Embassy/Consulate.

Pro Tip: Enter First Name + Last Name under GIVEN NAME. This Should not include the Surname. In the above case, the child does not have last name and hence only First Name is Entered

3. Select Apply for Ordinary Passport

4. Select Passport Type

Select Fresh Passport and Normal Application. Tatkal Passport (SAR 845) is usually issued within one day but at a higher cost . Normal Passport (SAR 282) usually takes about 2 Weeks to arrive.

Pro Tip: Choose 36 or 60 Pages as per your requirement. Most passports are 36 Pages.

5. Enter Applicant Details

Complete the form as above.

6. Enter Family Details

Enter Family Details as per passport.

7. Enter Applicant Address Details

Enter your local address and your nearest police station in India. Enter Indian Phone number so the police can locally contact and verify the passport details.

Pro Tip: Remember, the passport details of the child will be verified at your chosen local police station in India.

8. Enter Emergency Contact Details

Enter Your Indian Emergency Contact details.

9. Previous Passport Details

Select the options as shown.

10. Enter Other Details

Click No for Every Question.

11. Verify Passport Details

Verify your passport details very carefully. The Address Should be exactly same as per the Parent.

12. Review and Submit Application

Perform a final review before submitting the passport application.

13. Note Application Reference Number

Note your Application reference somewhere and Navigate to Home.

14. Print Application form

Select the Passport you just applied and Print the Application form. The application form should be duly signed by both parents [child’s thumb impression (left thumb for male & right thumb for female) should be affixed in the signature box].

15. Visit VFS Office

Search in Google Maps for VFS Global Office and visit your nearest VFS office (Most of the time, you don’t require an online appointment, however if you wish to schedule, follow this link ) along with all the necessary documents duly signed wherever required. At the center, You will be given additional forms such as Annexure H, Name Correction Form. You can fill them on the spot.

Submit the documents and pay the fees for passport, Birth Certificate including passport delivery charges. You will be asked to provide the courier delivery address. The cost of

Pro Tip: There is no need to bring the new born child to the Indian Passport Application Centre, However it is highly recommended to bring your wife though not compulsory.

Delivery of Newborn Baby Passport

Total Cost (Including Tax and Passport Delivery): SAR 350

Ideally, It takes about a 2 weeks for your passport to get delivered. You will receive a copy of the Extract from Birth certificate which is issued by the Embassy to the child after registering his/her name as an Indian national and a Separate Passport to the new born baby.
